Over the course of his career, William (Bill) Hendee has served as Professor and Chair of Physics and Astronomy at Millsaps College, Professor and Chair of Radiology at the University of Colorado, Vice President of Science, Technology and Public Health of the American Medical Association, and Professor and Vice Chair of Radiology, Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Senior Associate Dean for Research, President of the MCW Research Foundation, and Interim Dean of the Medical School, all at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Currently he is Distinguished Professor at MCW, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University, and Adjunct Professor at the Universities of Wisconsin, New Mexico, Colorado, and at Mayo Clinic. He is Editor of Medical Physics and is author or co-author of over 400 scientific publications and more than 24 books. He is Chair of the Science Committee for the IOMP.

Prof. John Damilakis, MSc, PhD is chairman of the Medical Physics Department at the University of Crete, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Crete and Head of the Medical Physics Department at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, Greece. An active researcher and author, Prof. Damilakis has published more than 200 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, 22 of which have been published in ‘Medical Physics’ journal. He has given more than 130 invited lectures at national and international meetings including RSNA, ECR, European and International Conferences on Medical Physics. Prof. Damilakis has been a member of the Editorial Board of several scientific journals including European Radiology (section editor for Medical Physics), and Investigative Radiology. Past services: Member of the Program Planning Committee of the European Congress of Radiology, Vice Chairman of the VI International Conference on Medical Physics, President of the Hellenic Association of Medical Physicists.

John Damilakis


Raymond K. Wu was born in China and educated in Hong Kong before earning his PhD degree in Physics at Dartmouth College in 1973. He trained in Medical Physics in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and started his long career in the US in 1975. He was appointed Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor in Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology at Temple University Medical School, and in 1985 he moved to Eastern Virginia Medical School and assumed the position of Professor and Director of Medical Physics until 2002. He has authored and co-authored many publications including the NCRP Report 151, and the IAEA Safety Reports Series No. 47. He has served as the Chairman of the American College of Medical Physics, and Board Member of AAPM. He is currently Chief of Medical Physics of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Cyberknife at Barrow Neurological Institute and St Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He has served in the IOMP Profession Relations Committee for many years, and has been its Chairman since 2009.

Prof. Tae Suk Suh is currently a professor of medical physics at the Catholic Medical Center, Seoul Korea. He is the Immediate Past-President of Korean Society of Medical Physics (KSMP) and is Secretary General of AFOMP for 9 years, since 2003. Prof. Suh has been President of World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (WC 2006 Seoul) and of the Asia-Oceania Congresses of Medical Physics (AOCMP 2006, 2012). He is Editor-in chief of the Korean Journal of Medical Physics, as well as Editorial board member of the Journals Medical Physics, the Chinese Journal of Clinicians(CJC), the Biomedical Imaging and Intervention Journal (BIIJ), the Austrlasian Physical and Engineering Science in Medicine(APESM). Prof Suh is author of some 200 papers and 500 international proceedings.

Dr Tomas Kron was born and educated in Germany. After his PhD he migrated to Australia in 1989 where he has worked in a number of radiotherapy departments. He worked in Canada on the commissioning of one of the first tomotherapy units for 3 years and is since 2005 principal research physicist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Tomas has an interest in dosimetry of ionising radiation, treatment verification, image guided radiotherapy and clinical trials quality assurance. He has co-authored a radiotherapy textbook and published more than 150 papers in refereed journals. From 2008 to 2009 Tomas Kron was president of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) the professional organisation representing medical physicists and biomedical engineers in Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Virginia Tsapaki has more than 21 years of experience in medical physics (MP), leading the MP Department in Konstantopoulio General Hospital, secretary general of Hellenic Association of Medical Physicists, EFOMP Communication and Publication committee Chair and IAEA expert. Participation in various European and IAEA research projects in many of these participating as EFOMP and IAEA expert. Forty six publications in SCI journals and 40 in national/international journals or conference proceedings, as well as 150 presentations or posters in national and international conferences.
